I like to come up with horrible video game mechanic ideas designed to piss off certain subsections of gamers without effecting the gameplay experience of the average player.
For example, what if I made a completely normal action adventure game, but the final boss is inaccessible by any means until the in-game time reaches 3 hours? If the game had an average play time of 10 hours, this would not effect the average gamer. It would, however, piss off speedrunners. If I wanted to rub salt into the wounds, I could make that three hour limit have a variable of up to five minutes late or early. I think the runners would come after me with pitchforks
Why do I, as a Japanese person, enjoy creating Black characters?
To put it simply, I started creating Black characters because a Black fan once said to me, ‘Thank you for creating Black characters beautifully. It’s a simple reason, but those words really made me happy.
A foreign fan told me, “Japanese anime art and entertainment are racially discriminatory”. As a Japanese illustrator, I had never heard such an opinion from Japanese people. This perspective was new to me.
If Japanese anime art and entertainment are perceived as racially discriminatory from an international perspective, then we as Japanese must face this issue.
Unfortunately, I have heard some Japanese people say, “If foreigners don’t like it, they shouldn’t watch Japanese entertainment. It’s made for Japanese people”. This is a foolish thought.
No matter how much they claim that Japanese entertainment is “just for Japan,” the Internet has erased borders. Japanese art and entertainment are no longer just for Japanese consumers. Can we go against the tide of this era?
No, it’s impossible.
Some understanding Japanese have said to me, appreciating my efforts to create ethnic diversity and racial differences, “If you continue to draw Black characters, maybe one day Japanese people will deepen their understanding of diverse racial representation and your work will be properly recognized.
I would be happy if one day I could draw beautiful Black characters in my work for Japanese clients and for foreign fans.
thankyou im training to be the world’s first fursuit therapy animal
i know you’re joking but when i was a child i needed to do service hours because i was a scout and i fulfilled those volunteer hours by dancing in this dog mascot suit for a kids summer camp (it was free so like people who needed childcare could drop off their kids)
well and since this was free and a lot of people utilizing the program were parents desperate for childcare so they could get to work and also i guess like, no one got the memo that kids REALLY dont like mascots, my ‘service’ was to get the shit beat out of me for hours on end until an adult volunteer saw what was happening and came over to help me
but because the kids didnt like me i was the secret weapon for getting everyone to participate, if they weren’t enthusiastic about an activity (say like, dodgeball) all the other volunteers had to do was say ’[mascot name] will play!’ and then everyone wanted to play to get an excuse to pelt me to death
so basically what im saying here is i have field experience
